    Description

    A beautiful pair of cream fine silk hand-worked mittens dating from the early 19th C.  - 1825 - 1830
    These mittens are gossamer fine and would have looked stunning for evening wear or very special occasions.
    The design is of bands of different  stiches and there is a thumb section and the top would have come half-way
    up the fingers.
    It is amazing that these beautiful and fine mittens have survived nearly 2 centuries. They have most probably never been worn
    and have been well looked after.
    These mittens appear quite narrow but the silk knotted lace  is very flexible and tbey would have adjusted to tbe arm and hand.
