    Product Q&A
    Q
Can these pots be used in certified organic operations?
    A
Yes, our Cow Pots can be used in certified organic operations.
    Q
How long can they be stored for?
    A
The Cow Pots will last multiple growing seasons when stored in a cool, dry place.
    Q
Which carrying tray will fit the 5" cow pots?
    A
The 5.5" Square Pot Carrying Tray CN-TRK can be used for carrying the 5" Cow Pots.
    Q
Are the square Cow Pots measured on the diagonal or straight across?
    A
The Cow Pots are measured using length X width, not on the diagonal.
    Q
How durable are the cow pots in a greenhouse situation with daily watering? How quickly do they break down?
    A
Per the manufacturer, "CowPots should hold up for up to 12 weeks. However, if they do start to break down your plant roots will usually hold the pot sufficiently intact to enable easy planting in the ground. Over watering is the most common cause of premature breakdown. Failing to fill the pot completely to the top with soil also increases handling stress on the pots when they are moved and that encourages breakdown."
    Q
Which size carrying tray is best for use with the 3" cow pots?
    A
We would suggest using the Square Pot Carrying Tray CM-TRK for 3" pots with the 3" Cow Pots.
    Q
    Is this produce OMRI Certified?
    A
Cow Pots are not OMRI certified, however, they have been designated as 'approved for use' in organic production by the USDA.
    Q
Regarding the organic cow pots, are the cows grass fed or grain fed?
    A
A mixture of grass and grains are used to feed cows for the production of the Cow Pots. Per the manufacturer, "we grow all of our own forages to feed the cows and work closely with a dairy cow nutritionist to ensure all of the animals receive a complete and balanced diet. The forages are supplemented by grains and nutritional byproducts to meet every cows' dietary needs."
    Q
For seedlings in a "seed starting greenhouse" like your XL dome propagator, Must I use these inserted into another plastic pot or will they stand alone? With watering?
    A
The Cow Pots should be able to be used as stand alone pots for seed starting until they are ready to be placed in the ground. Per the manufacturer, "CowPots should hold up for up to 12 weeks."
    Q
How many 4" cow pots will fit in a 1020 tray?
    A
Ten of the 4" Cow Pots will fit inside of a Standard 1020 Tray.
