Rear c.1870s Silver Color Silk High Bustle Dress with all 3 matching pieces!
We offered today for your consideration is this antique High bustle Victorian dress ensemble circa 1870s.
This High bustle dress is made of a fine fashinable silver color silk(see pic). A truly a masterpiece of beginning of 1870s,High bustle period. The fashionable tight fitted bodice with typical fitted curved sleeves with slopped shoulders. High stand-up collar trimmed with pleated white tulle, black lace cuffs & most pretty jet-beaded rosette on each sleeve. Original beautiful a Dozen large black hand Crochet buttons decorate tightly corseted bodice(see pic). Furthermore the cuffs are ornate with 6 matching hand crochet buttons as well. The bodice has black floral lace trim on both cuffs. There is a short over skirt with pleated side & large puffy back with inner ties to fit over a lobster tail bustle. The under skirt has a large side pocket & inner bustle ties in the back for a large bustle. It has pretty pleated ruffles around the hem & a slight train in the back. Inner black hem protector to prevent skirt from trailing. Both the bodice & skirt are fully Lined with brown cotton. The inside bodice is tightly supported by self covered metal stays.
Antique 1870s Victorian High Bustle dresses from this era are short lived & quite rare to survived with all matching pieces, they are elegant & are worth quite a bit of money on their own and still be present over 100 years is a real rarity.
The dress is in very good presentable condition. It was hardly worn. Tiny pin pricks to a couple of small holes, a slight underarm stains & small brown spots on the bodice. There is an inch half tear near the back of the right cuff. Scattered small holes & few silk rubbing spots on the left side of overskirt. Couple of small tears, minor worn spots & few tiny holes on the right side of under skirt as well (cover by the overskirt so hardly seen when display). There are few pencil eraser holes on the hem of the under skirt. The flaws are not much visible when display. Bodice measures Bodice:Bust 32”, Shoulders 14 1/2”, Waist 24”, Sleeves 21” long & measures 22” long. The over Skirt has 24” waist & 36” long. The under skirt has 23” waist & Length is 40”.
